PADI Open Water Course Requirements…
Course Details.
When you have decided to take up the PADI Open Water Course with us we will explain the course curriculum and mandatory requirements for completing the course and becoming a PADI Open Water Diver, after purchasing the course and deciding
on what type of study you would like to do (Crew-Pak) or (PADI Touch) we will proceed to the first step of filling out the mandatory required forms for the PADI Open Water Course.
The four(4) forms required:
- Liability Release & Assumption of Risk Agreement (10072)
- Medical Statement (10063)
- Standard Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding (10060)
- Open Water Diver Course Student File & Referral Form (10056)
Making sure to fill out all questions and personal information correctly before signing.
We will provide all forms necessary to you upon starting our course.
Diver Prerequisites: (10) Years Old.
(Divers 10-14 years old earn a Junior Open Water Diver Certification)
Certification Requirements:
Complete Five(5) knowledge development segments, including quizzes and final exams (this can be completed in our class room or in the comfort of your home) again depending on your choice to learn from the crew-pak or via the PADI touch both these options
give you the chance to read, watch the videos and fully understand before sitting down with us and going through the knowledge development process and completing the final exams.
The knowledge development process can take around 10-12 hours to fully complete on avarage.
We will work with you to make sure that our course can fit perfectly within your travel or work schedule and give you the very best options so to ensure you quickly and easily complete this segment and make it as enjoyable and informative as possible.
Confined Water Diving...
The next portion of your Open Water Diver Course will be the "confined water dives" these consist of five(5) segments that can be conducted in either our swimming pool or a confined open water space at our dive location Pulau
Payar Marine Park, here we will go through all the necessary skill requirements to familiarise you with all the skills you have learned from the knowledge review and videos, this training prepares you and enables you to safely understand all
equipment and skill scenarios commonly associated with becoming an independent Open Water Diver.
We will work with you and make sure you fully understand and are fully confident in all aspects of this training before we take you for the final Open Water Dives, there is no rush to complete these skills if you require more time to master your
weak points we can arrange the time and training necessary to get you where you need to be to complete the course, we are fully committed to you from the very start.
(Confined Water Class usually can be completed in a full day approximately 8-12 hours depending on the students comfort and skill level)
Open Water Diving...
Now that you have completed the knowledge reviews and exams and have mastered the required skill set in the confined water portion of the course you will now be taken for the next segment.
Open Water Dives:...to complete this portion you are required to take four(4) open water dives at our Dive Destination Pulau Payar this will be conducted into a two(2) day segments, the first day we will depart from Swettenham
Ferry Terminal on a Ferry boat at around 08:30 AM taking us directly to Payar Island where we will be dropped at the floating jeti at around 10:30 AM.
All of the equipment and facilities are provided, there is fresh water showers, toilets, food & beverage store, there is plenty of room and seating areas to relax and gather your belongings, all equipment necessary for our dives will be provided.
We will assemble our equipment go through our training skills & pre-dive plan then set out for our first(1) Open Water Dive, during our first dive we will conduct some of our skills we mastered in our confined water portion and proceed to dive around the coral island where you can enjoy your new found hobby and explore the wonders of the underwater world.
The dive will last approximately 45-60 minutes depending on your air consumption.
After the first dive we will relax and take lunch which is provided in the form of a buffet all part of the Total Dive Package deal, you do not need to bring your own food as it is plentiful, lunch will last approximately (1)one hour.
We will then proceed for our next dive(2) in which we will conduct more open water skills as practiced in the confined water portion and enjoy our second dive sight seeing underwater.
After the dive we will relax and fill out your log book and go through your dive experience and discuss all aspects of your dives.
At around 4PM we will depart from Payar via the ferry and proceed back to Penang Jeti, we will reach back in Penang at around 5:30-6PM at this point we will be finished for the day, that concludes the first segment of the Open Water Portion.
The second portion of the Open water Dive will be conducted in the same exact manner as the first and both the third(3) and forth(4) dives will entail some skill practicing and fun diving, you can decide on what days you wish to do your Open Water Training, each
single day consists of two(2) dives only so there must be two(2) trips to be made, we will arrange around your schedule.
Once all four(4) dives are completed log books have been filled out and signed we will complete your PIC (Personal Identification Card) and Student Record details and your are now a certified Open Water Diver!!!...Congratulations!
It’s Time to Dive Straight In…

Course will take minimum of (3) full days to complete.
Each day you will travel via ferry to Pulau Payar Island to conduct all the Training and Open Water Dives.
(Day 1) ...Will consist of Confined Open Water Training, Skills & Theory.
(Day 2) ...Will consist of Open Water Dives
(1)+(2) ...Where Skills will be performed.
(Day 3) ...Will consist of Open Water Dives
(3)+(4) ...Where Skills will be performed.
Completion of course work and final exam.
Certification issued for Open Water Diver.
